- Know how to multiply and divide whole numbers by 10 and 100 where the answer is also a whole number.

Teaching notes
- This topic goes hand in hand with an understanding of place value. It is important for students to understand that when a number is multiplied by 10, each digit moves one place to the left on the place value chart because each place to the left on a place value chart is tens times larger.
- It is important not to teach students to “add a zero” when multiplying by 10 because this doesn’t work with decimal numbers or promote understanding of multiplying by 10 etc.
Number Knowledge 11 – 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s in numbers up to 100
- Know, or be able to work out using a strategy, how many 2s, 3s, 5s or 10s are in numbers up to 100.

- This section uses multiplication facts that students already know to help work out how many groups of a given number are in another number.
- Students will need to know their 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s tables. They can use this knowledge to help divide numbers less than 100 by those amounts and, where required, work out any remainders.
