• Encourage students to choose survey topics that interest them. Brainstorming some ideas, perhaps using the Getting started,
  may help.
• You could give students some survey topics that relate to other subjects such as science or social studies.
• Check that all students’ survey topics are suitable and can be graphed using one of the graphs they are familiar with.
• Encourage students to look for patterns, clusters and trends, and to look at the overall shape of the graph when analysing
  their data.
• Encourage students to draw conclusions that are suitable and relate to the original question.
• Working with a buddy provides a legitimate opportunity for students to discuss the development of the enquiry as they progress. Talking through ideas, especially in the initial stages, encourages students to think about what they are doing from different perspectives and evaluate options.
