Teacher Resource Sheets

Collecting data (page 312)

What do you want to know? (Getting Started 19)

(This could be used as a group activity prior to the Collecting data section on page 312.)

This displays the Getting started on page 309. This activity could lead on to discussing with students interesting data that could be collected and some “I wonder …” statements.

You could ask students to make up their own multi-variate card and think of three things they wonder about the data.

How would you sort it? (Teacher Resource Sheet 133)

(This sheet could be used as a group activity prior to the Collecting data section on page 312.)

This has some data for students to sort using appropriate data collection sheets. Students are asked to discuss the best way to sort the data.

The Enquiry Cycle step by step (starting on page 317)

This displays the Enquiry Cycle for you to discuss.

Make sure students understand why the arrows are double headed.
