Rich tasks

• This is an open-ended activity that asks students to investigate doubling and compatible number strategies. Students are asked to invent ways to use equipment such as a hundreds board to solve problems. The task can be given at the start of a topic and done as the students gain enough understanding to complete it or given as a homework task.
