Maryanne was honoured as an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) in the Queen's New Years Honours, for services to mathematics education.
Here she is collecting her award at the Investiture Ceremony, hosted by Her Excellency, The Governor-General of New Zealand, The Rt Hon Dame Patsy Reddy.

We are extremely proud of Maryanne. Her dedication and service to generations of New Zealand students and teachers has been outstanding.
Writing as M.J.Tipler, sales of her books in New Zealand now total over 635,000 copies.
In her recent series, ‘NZ Curriculum Mathematics: Connecting All Strands’, she has also created huge parallel resources of free online support for teachers.
